Epidemiology
To standardize and collect epidemiological data on skin diseases in Organ Transplant Recipients (OTR)
Collection of pre-existing epidemiological data
Pan European Epidemiological Studies
– Skin cancer
– Skin infections
– Immunosuppression
Prevention and Treatment
To establish a consensus for prevention and treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) and skin infections in OTR
Consensus on guidelines for prophylaxis (including patient education)
Consensus on dermatological surveillance/aftercare intervals
Consensus on treatments/therapeutic strategies
Establish an evidence base for therapy through multi-centre clinical trials
Research
To define research areas of common interest
Role of immunosuppressive agents in the aetiology and possibly also the prophylaxis of skin cancer
Role of oncogenic viruses in the setting of systemic immunosuppression
Increase awareness
Increase awareness (patients and physicians) of skin complications in OTR. Encourage a multidisciplinary approach for management of skin disease in OTR.
Establish local networks in each county – eg SCOR-UK
Provide patient and physician (GP) information
Internet activities (website) and other media
Public relations (sponsors, industry, patient support groups, transplant surgeons and nurse practitioners)
‘Medical awareness’: Joint publications, satellite symposia, meetings
